ALLEVYN Gentle Border 12.5 x 12.5 cm is a silicone-bordered, multi-layer polyurethane foam dressing engineered for atraumatic removal and effective exudate management. Designed by Smith & Nephew for fragile skin, this sterile wound dressing supports moist wound healing for acute and chronic wounds including pressure ulcers, leg and diabetic foot ulcers, post-operative wounds and skin tears.

Ingredients and Materials

Constructed from a hydrophilic polyurethane foam core (ALLEVYN foam), a soft silicone adhesive contact layer (silicone border) and a breathable outer film backing. The dressing is sterile, single-use and latex-free. Materials provide absorbency, vapour transmission and gentle adhesion suitable for fragile peri-wound skin.

How to Use

1. Perform wound cleansing and ensure peri-wound skin is dry.
2. Open sterile pack and remove release liners from the silicone border.
3. Apply foam pad over wound, ensuring the silicone border lies flat on intact surrounding skin.
4. Smooth edges to secure dressing. Typical wear time depends on exudate levels; change when saturated, leaking, or per clinician instruction (up to several days in low-exuding wounds).
5. Single-use only. Do not re-sterilise or reuse.

Designed for patients with fragile, sensitive or elderly skin who need an atraumatic silicone-bordered dressing. Ideal for managing low to moderately exuding acute and chronic wounds including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds, skin tears and donor sites. Suitable for use in hospitals, clinics and community care.

Caution & Storage

For external use only. Do not use on heavily infected wounds without clinician supervision. Monitor for signs of maceration, increased exudate or hypersensitivity reactions. Single sterile unit do not use if packaging is damaged. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Check expiry date on the pack. Seek medical advice if wound condition worsens or if signs of infection occur (increased pain, redness, swelling, discharge, fever).
